Performing a sort on a data set that is opened in the SAS Universal Viewer does not sort the entire data set by the selected variable. By default, data sets in the SAS Universal Viewer are broken up into pages of data that contain 200 observations per page. When you sort data in SAS Universal Viewer, the data is sorted within each page of data, but not throughout the entire set.
To set an option that defines the number of observations sorted per page, select Tools ► Options ► Performance. Complete the fields on the Performance tab to customize the option to meet the needs of your installation.
Alternatively, you can download the latest version of the SAS Universal Viewer, which does not exhibit this behavior.
